### Background

Palantir was founded in 2003 by Peter Thiel, Stephen Cohen, Joe Lonsdale, Alex Karp, and Nathan Gettings, originally to apply data-fusion techniques from counterterrorism finance to military intelligence analysis.

The CIA's In-Q-Tel was an early backer. Alex Karp has served as CEO since inception.

The core product stack comprises four systems: Gotham, purpose-built for defense and intelligence agencies to integrate siloed operational data; Foundry, a commercial and civil-sector data operating system; Apollo, a continuous delivery and deployment platform; and AIP (Artificial Intelligence Platform), which layers large-language-model workflows onto Gotham and Foundry environments for decision support and targeting assistance.

Palantir sells primarily through direct government contracts and enterprise agreements. The U.S. government segment — led by Army, intelligence community, and federal civilian agency deals — is the company's largest revenue driver.

Headcount stands at 3,500-plus employees. The company listed publicly in September 2020 via direct listing on the NYSE and is headquartered in Denver, Colorado.

### Financial footing

Palantir reported Q2 2026 revenue of \*\*$1.935 billion, up 93% year over year\*\*, with net income of $1.06 billion and adjusted EPS of $0.41 against a $0.35 consensus.

Management then raised full-year 2026 guidance to \*\*$8.150–8.158 billion\*\* from $7.65–7.66 billion — close to $500 million added in a single step, the largest full-year raise in company history, implying roughly \*\*82% growth\*\*.

The mix inside that: \*\*government revenue of $990 million, up 79%\*\*, with U.S. government at $809 million and up 90%; U.S.

commercial at $764 million, up 149%. Total contract value closed in the quarter was $3.37 billion, up 49%. The company reported a Rule of 40 score of 155.

Palantir is publicly listed on the \*\*Nasdaq\*\* as PLTR, having moved from the NYSE in late 2024, and is headquartered in Denver, Colorado. It is the only company in this showcase set with audited public financials rather than reported private valuations.

### Major customers & contracts

The U.S. Army is the anchor, through a \*\*$10 billion, ten-year Enterprise Agreement\*\* signed in July 2025 that consolidates a long tail of separate contracts into one vehicle — structurally the same manoeuvre Anduril executed with its own $20 billion Army award eight months later, and a pattern worth noting in its own right.

The \*\*Maven Smart System\*\* is the highest-profile defence programme. Its budget ceiling has been raised to approximately \*\*$1.3 billion\*\*, and William Blair's Louie DiPalma estimated in August 2026 that Maven is approaching a \*\*$1 billion annual revenue run rate\*\* for Palantir's role in it.

A separate \*\*$876 million\*\* framework covers Army Distributed Common Ground System work.

Palantir surpassed $1 billion in U.S. government contract awards during 2026\. Beyond defence, Foundry and AIP carry the commercial book that grew 149% in Q2 — the growth engine, though the government work is what makes the company strategically relevant to this directory.

### Leadership & contact surface

**Contact policy.** BattlePolicy maps roles and official, published channels only — who owns a decision and the front door — never individuals’ personal phone numbers, private emails or home details. This keeps the file GDPR-clean and welcome to the companies we profile.

### Competitive position

Palantir competes most directly against Booz Allen Hamilton, Leidos, and SAIC in the U.S. defense analytics and AI-integration market. Against Booz Allen, Palantir holds a product-software edge — Gotham and AIP are proprietary platforms rather than labor-augmented IT services — but Booz Allen's embedded program-office relationships and cleared workforce give it contract access Palantir must work harder to match. Against Leidos and SAIC, Palantir's advantage is speed of AI-layer deployment via AIP, while its weakness is limited systems-integration and hardware-integration depth.

In the commercial data-platform space, Snowflake and Databricks overlap with Foundry on enterprise data-mesh use cases; Palantir's edge there is the pre-built operational workflow layer, but Snowflake's partner ecosystem is broader. Microsoft Azure Government and AWS GovCloud compete as underlying infrastructure on which Palantir itself sometimes runs, creating a layered dependency. The defense-AI market is consolidating around program-of-record status; Maven Smart System's POR designation is Palantir's strongest structural moat.

### Battlefield relevance

Palantir supplies the targeting and decision layer rather than the weapon, so its battlefield presence is measured in kill chains rather than kills.

\*\*Maven Smart System\*\* is the clearest case: an AI-driven targeting and situational-awareness platform in operational use across U.S.

combatant commands, credited with compressing sensor-to-shooter timelines. Its budget ceiling rising to \~$1.3 billion is a direct measure of operational demand rather than programme optimism.

Palantir software has been used in \*\*Ukraine\*\* for targeting support, damage assessment and refugee and demining data work, and the company has said publicly that its tools support Ukrainian operations. The specifics are not disclosed and should not be over-claimed.

The honest framing is that Palantir's combat relevance is real but indirect and largely unverifiable from open sources — which is exactly the condition that makes a software prime hard to displace once embedded, and hard to audit from outside.

### Analyst verdict Pro

⌖ Analyst note · BattlePolicy assessment — judgment, not reporting

Palantir is the counter-example that disciplines every private valuation in this directory. It is the only company here with audited public financials, and they show 93% quarterly growth, a billion dollars of quarterly net income and an 82% full-year guidance raise.

When Anduril is priced at $61 billion on roughly $2.2 billion of revenue, Palantir is the comparison that makes the multiple arguable in either direction.

The strategic move to watch is the enterprise-agreement pattern. A $10 billion, ten-year Army vehicle does not buy software so much as it makes Palantir the substrate the Army's data sits on, and displacement costs compound annually from there. Maven at a \~$1 billion run rate is the same dynamic in the targeting chain.

Two risks are worth naming. Concentration: U.S. government revenue up 90% is excellent until appropriations turn, and a single customer holding a $10 billion vehicle has pricing power it has not yet used. And the governance noise — insider selling through a period of record guidance has been a recurring story in 2026.

Three things to watch: whether Maven's ceiling rises again; whether any European or NATO body signs an equivalent enterprise agreement; and whether commercial growth at 149% holds, because that is what the multiple is actually priced on.
