Background

RTX Corporation was formed in 2020 through the merger of Raytheon Company (tracing to 1922) and United Technologies Corporation, and took the RTX name in 2023.

Headquartered in Arlington, Virginia and led by President and CEO Christopher Calio, RTX operates through three main segments — Collins Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney, and Raytheon — with Raytheon serving as its missile, radar and air-and-missile-defense arm.

Raytheon's flagship program is the Patriot air-defense system, alongside the next-generation GhostEye/LTAMDS 360-degree AESA radar family designed to eventually replace Patriot's legacy radar and to serve as the future sensor for NASAMS.

The segment also builds Standard Missile, AMRAAM and AIM-9X air-to-air missiles, Coyote counter-drone effectors, and SPY-6 naval radar, making it one of the two or three dominant Western suppliers of layered air-and-missile defense.
