BATTLEPOLICY
Startup to front line. Strategy to consequence.
01Mission

BattlePolicy is a daily defense-tech intelligence brief, published by Schuler Media, LLC. We fuse the startup and technology story with the battlefield — tracking how new systems, capital, and policy reshape modern conflict. Our primary focus is the war in Ukraine and Russia, with a close watch on Iran, Israel, Europe, and China.

Pillar I

Tech Meets the Battlefield

We connect the defense-tech startup story to what actually happens in the field — drones, autonomy, sensors, and the systems changing how wars are fought.

Pillar II

Primary Focus: Ukraine & Russia

The war in Ukraine is reshaping modern defense technology faster than anywhere else. We track it closely, with a watch on Iran, Israel, Europe, and China.

Pillar III

Context Over Noise

Interrogating claims rather than republishing them. Every story asks: who benefits, what's the evidence, and what isn't being said?

That discipline becomes a product in Q3 2026: The Fielding Report measures the distance between defense-tech announcements and the battlefield — quarterly, preregistered, source-linked.

04Ownership & Funding

BattlePolicy is wholly owned and operated by Schuler Media LLC, a media company founded by Marcus Schuler. It is funded through reader subscriptions and consulting services. We accept no venture capital, and no outside investor has editorial influence over our coverage.

05Research Desk

Beyond the newsroom, BattlePolicy takes commissioned assignments — due-diligence memos, market-entry briefs, competitive landscapes and private briefings — for investors, defense companies and public institutions. Every assignment is scoped to a defined decision question, priced as a fixed quote, and delivered in one to three weeks. Client work never buys coverage: commissioned research is walled off from editorial, and accepting an assignment does not stop us from reporting critically on a client or its market. Scope and process: the Research Desk.

06The Fielding Report

Coming Q3 2026: a quarterly census of the systems defense-tech startups and neo-primes actually get to the battlefield. Every eligible system announced since 2022 is tracked from announcement through demonstration, contract, operational fielding, and publicly documented combat employment — including the paths procurement databases miss, from donations to Ukraine's Brave1 credits.

The rules are preregistered: eligibility, evidence thresholds, and the headline metric are locked before any system is selected, hard claims require two independent sources, and every published conclusion carries a citation and a date. The report is free to read; the full dataset and evidence ledgers are part of BattlePolicy Pro. Subscribe free to get Edition 1 on release.
