What we collect and why
Information you give us directly. Your email address when you subscribe to the newsletter or create an account, and, if we introduce paid memberships in future, the billing details needed to process payment. We use this to deliver the newsletter, operate your account, send service and verification messages, and respond to you.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we use cookies, log files, and device identifiers to remember preferences, keep the site secure, and understand how the site is used.
Legal bases (EU/UK/Switzerland). We process personal data on the bases of performing our contract with you, your consent, compliance with legal obligations, and our legitimate interests in operating and improving the service.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies for essential site function and to measure traffic. We may use a privacy-respecting analytics provider such as Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage trends; you can opt out of Google Analytics at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with: service providers that operate the product on our behalf (for example our publishing/newsletter platform Ghost, hosting, and analytics providers); authorities when required by law; a successor entity in connection with a merger or acquisition; and as aggregated, anonymized data that cannot identify you.
Your choices and rights
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any issue. To access, correct, export, or delete your information, contact us at editor@battlepolicy.com. If you are in the EU, UK, or Switzerland you also have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, and may complain to your local data protection authority.
Storage and security
Your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where we or our providers operate. We use commercially reasonable physical, administrative, and technical safeguards to protect it, though no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Children
The service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. Contact editor@battlepolicy.com if you believe a child has provided us information and we will delete it.
Links to other sites
BattlePolicy aggregates and links to third-party reporting. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of sites we link to.
