Background
AerialX was founded in 2013 in Vancouver, British Columbia, initially as a high-end UAS developer before pivoting to counter-drone systems. CEO Noam Kenig leads the company. The pivot produced DroneBullet, a sub-kilogram (910 g) hand-launchable autonomous interceptor described as a hybrid between a missile and a quadcopter. It uses onboard AI and machine vision to perform kinetic kills — physically ramming target drones — rather than employing warheads or directed energy. Rated range is 4 km and dive speeds approach 350 km/h.
The system can operate standalone or integrate with third-party detection networks, and is designed to defeat both individual multirotor and fixed-wing UAS and swarm threats. Competitive position
AerialX competes most directly with Powerus and its Guardian-1, another kinetic drone-on-drone interceptor targeting Group 1–3 UAS; DroneBullet's lighter weight and hand-launch profile give it a lower logistics burden, but Powerus has disclosed more specific customer engagements publicly.
