Anduril Copperhead

An American family of autonomous underwater vehicles and armed variants that Anduril advertises for deployment from autonomous underwater, surface and aerial platforms.

Overview

Anduril publicly introduced the Copperhead family on 7 April 2025, naming Copperhead-100 and Copperhead-500 alongside Copperhead-M munition derivatives in its launch announcement. Anduril's product page lists four configurations: Copperhead-100, Copperhead-100M, Copperhead-500 and Copperhead-500M.

Anduril advertises launch options from large autonomous underwater vehicles and specified classes of autonomous surface and aerial vehicles, without identifying qualified launch platforms or demonstrated deployments for those options. The company says Dive-XL can carry dozens of Copperhead-100Ms or multiple Copperhead-500Ms, but its launch announcement gives no exact counts or demonstrated loadout. Anduril also said that Copperheads, including munition variants that had not expended themselves, could be recovered, refurbished and reused, according to The War Zone.

Taiwan's National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST) signed procurement contracts with Anduril on 18 September 2025 for Dive-LD and a Copperhead underwater autonomous mobile mine, CNA reported, without identifying the Copperhead subvariant, quantity, value or delivery schedule. Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense acknowledged the NCSIST–Anduril Copperhead project during a 30 March 2026 visit by US senators, according to the Military News Agency account published by Youth Daily. Taiwan is an officially acknowledged programme partner; neither CNA's procurement report nor the Military News Agency account establishes Copperhead delivery or operational service. Anduril's product specifications, retrieved on 9 October 2026, do not publish range, endurance, depth rating, total vehicle mass, explosive fill or unit price.

Anduril announced its acquisition of Massachusetts-based underwater-acoustics company Popoto Modem on 2 October 2026, according to its announcement; financial terms were undisclosed, the Orange County Business Journal reported. Anduril said Popoto modems had already been integrated into Copperhead, according to maritime executive Andrew Nuss's Tectonic interview, and named scaling that integration as its immediate priority in its release republished by ASDNews.
