Overview

Anduril Dive-LD is a large-diameter autonomous underwater vehicle developed initially by Dive Technologies and subsequently produced by Anduril Industries for the US Navy. The torpedo-shaped vehicle is approximately 5.8 m long and 1.2 m in diameter, with a dry weight of about 2,720 kg and gross weight approaching 3 tonnes. Its stated missions include undersea intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; mine countermeasures; anti-submarine warfare support; seabed mapping; intelligence preparation of the operational environment; and precision placement of modular payloads.

Dive-LD combines a claimed depth rating of 6,000 m with autonomous missions lasting up to 10 days. Open mechanical, electrical and software interfaces permit different sensors or effectors to be integrated into its payload bays, while Anduril's Lattice software provides the command-and-control layer. The vehicle is also the technological starting point for the larger Dive-XL and Australia's Ghost Shark extra-large autonomous undersea vehicle.

The US Navy publicly identified Dive-LD as its newest large uncrewed undersea vehicle during training in December 2024. Its first known operational deployment occurred in US Central Command's area of responsibility, where Anduril said vehicles accumulated thousands of operating hours. The program received wider attention after Iran recovered a disabled US Dive-LD near the Strait of Hormuz on 8 September 2026.
