Background

Qasar Younis and Peter Ludwig founded Applied Intuition in Sunnyvale, California in 2017, initially targeting the autonomous-vehicle simulation gap — providing the software infrastructure that AV developers needed to test and validate systems at scale without exclusively relying on physical miles.

The core product line has since expanded into three pillars: simulation and data-engine tooling for development pipelines; Vehicle OS, a middleware and compute platform now being integrated into Stellantis's STLA Brain architecture; and Acuity Ground Autonomy plus Axion Mission Control, purpose-built for military and industrial platforms.

Eighteen of the top 20 global automakers use Applied Intuition's tools, alongside defense and industrial customers in trucking, construction, mining, and agriculture.

The company sells direct to OEMs and defense primes, with program-level integrations rather than component licensing.

Headcount figures are not publicly disclosed. Applied Intuition operates globally with multiple offices outside its Sunnyvale headquarters.
