Fire Point

Ukraine's most prolific deep-strike house — a civilian startup that scaled from the FP-1 attack drone to the Flamingo cruise missile and now flies most of Kyiv's strikes on Russia, shadowed by a corruption probe over its ownership.

Background

Fire Point emerged after Russia's 2022 full-scale invasion, founded by a trio of civilians turned defense entrepreneurs: chief designer and owner Denys Shtilerman (a former IT entrepreneur who once held Russian citizenship), CTO Iryna Terekh (an ex-architect who joined in mid-2023), and director Yehor Skalyha (a former film producer). Development of the flagship FP-1 one-way attack drone began in November 2022 with roughly a dozen people; the drone was approved for service in May 2023 and flew its first combat mission that September.

The company's philosophy is deliberately low-tech — cheap, mass-produced weapons from commodity materials, with Terekh recounting that engineers sourced rocket-booster chemistry 'on YouTube.' Output scaled from 20-30 drones a month to over 100 FP-1s per day, and the workforce ballooned from a handful to a claimed 3,500-3,700 in about two years. It has since added the FP-2 mid-range drone, the FP-5 Flamingo cruise missile, the FP-7/FP-9 ballistic missiles, and the Freyja air-defense program. Former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo joined its advisory board in November 2025 as the firm stepped out of the shadows to defend its reputation.
