Heaviside Industries
Heaviside Industries builds autonomous precision munitions across air, land and sea, and paired a $60 million Series B with a warhead-supply partnership with Norwegian munitions maker Nammo.
Background
Heaviside Industries was founded in February 2024 by Phillip Walker, its chief executive, and is headquartered in Marina del Rey, California, with an office in Oslo, Norway. It is federally registered as a US defence contractor.
The company builds autonomous precision munitions platforms spanning air, land and sea for US and allied special operations and conventional forces, with products described as including aerial and underwater munitions.
Its stated engineering focus is miniaturisation — packing guidance, autonomy and effect into small, cheap, mass-producible airframes — and its commercial framing is volume: the pitch is what happens when a defence buyer needs 50,000 units rather than a prototype.
Heaviside emerged from stealth in May 2026 and announced its Series B three months later, an unusually compressed sequence that reflects how quickly capital moved into munitions during 2026.
Financial footing
- $28M Series A led by Interlagos on emerging from stealth (May 2026)
- $60M Series B led by Felicis at a reported $600M valuation (Aug 2026)
- Strategic partnership with Nammo for warhead supply and access to production and test infrastructure
- Backers: Felicis, Interlagos, Menlo Ventures, Hedosophia, Cantos, Flume Ventures, Anorak Ventures
Heaviside raised a $28 million Series A on emerging from stealth in May 2026, led by Interlagos with participation from Menlo Ventures, Flume Ventures, Cantos, Anorak Ventures and defence-focused individual investors including Frank Finelli, formerly a partner and managing director at The Carlyle Group.
On 12 August 2026 it announced a $60 million Series B led by Felicis, with Hedosophia, Menlo Ventures, Cantos, Flume Ventures, Qstar Capital, Friends & Family Capital, Anorak Ventures and MVP Ventures participating, at a reported $600 million valuation.
Total disclosed equity is approximately $88 million across the two rounds, raised within roughly fifteen months of the company's federal registration.
No revenue or contract backlog has been disclosed. The Oslo office and the Nammo relationship indicate a European industrial strategy running in parallel with the US one.
Major customers & contracts
No specific government contract awards are disclosed in the sources reviewed here. Heaviside is federally registered as a contractor and describes its customers as US and allied special operations and conventional forces.
The defining commercial relationship is with Nammo, the Norwegian-Finnish state-backed munitions group. Under the partnership announced alongside the Series B, Nammo supplies warheads for Heaviside's precision-strike platforms and gives the company access to established production and testing infrastructure.
For a two-year-old startup, that solves the two hardest problems in munitions at once: energetics, which are heavily regulated and capital-intensive, and qualified test ranges.

Competitive position
Heaviside enters a munitions market that has become the most contested segment in defence technology.
Castelion, valued at $13 billion, is pursuing low-cost hypersonic strike; Mach Industries and X-Bow Systems address adjacent munitions and energetics problems; Ursa Major supplies propulsion. Against those companies Heaviside is small and late.
Its differentiation is the multi-domain, miniaturised, high-volume position — aerial and underwater munitions built to be manufactured in tens of thousands rather than hundreds — combined with the Nammo relationship.
Most munitions startups have to build or buy energetics capability; Heaviside has contracted for it from an established European supplier, which compresses its path to a qualified product and gives it a NATO-side manufacturing base that US competitors lack.
The corresponding weakness is dependency. Warheads are the part of a precision munition that is hardest to source and easiest to lose access to, and Heaviside's supply of them now runs through a single partner it does not control.
Battlefield relevance
No confirmed combat use. Heaviside emerged from stealth in May 2026 and has not disclosed fielded systems or operational employment. Its products remain at the development and early-production stage.
