Background
Jason Dunn, a co-founder of Made In Space (the company that put the first 3D printer on the International Space Station and proved orbital fiber-optic manufacturing), founded Outpost Technologies Corporation in Santa Monica, California in 2021 alongside a paragliding-technology expert, betting that in-space manufacturing needs a reliable way to bring finished goods back to Earth.
The company builds reusable reentry vehicles — the smaller Ferryall, which grew out of a NASA-funded concept for returning cargo from the ISS, and the larger, shipping-container-sized Carryall, rated to return payloads of up to roughly 10 tons — using precision paraglider-guided landing systems it says can deliver cargo to any helipad on Earth within about 90 minutes and roughly 25-meter accuracy.
