Project Q
Project Q builds Q-OSP, an open C2 and sensor-fusion platform that connects legacy and new sensors into a unified real-time battlefield picture for NATO-compatible forces.
Background
Project Q was founded in Berlin in 2024 by Leonard Wessendorff and Frank Christian Sprengel.
The company emerged from a thesis that fragmented sensor ecosystems are the primary bottleneck in modern combined-arms operations, and set out to build a vendor-agnostic integration layer rather than proprietary hardware.
The core product is Q-OSP (Open Sensor Platform), a software layer that ingests data from disparate sensors, legacy C2 systems, and third-party feeds to generate real-time situational awareness.
The company markets this architecture under the umbrella concept it calls the "Internet of Defence," emphasizing interoperability across NATO force structures. A dedicated unattended-ground-sensor kit is scheduled for showcase at Eurosatory 2026.
Project Q routes to market primarily through direct engagement with European defense ministries and through partnerships with hardware manufacturers and defense primes who embed Q-OSP as an integration layer.
The team stood at approximately 20 staff at the time of its seed close, with plans to scale to 30.
