GMLRS

Overview
GMLRS is the principal guided rocket family used by the US-built M142 HIMARS and M270 MLRS launcher systems. The distinction between weapon and launcher is fundamental: HIMARS is a wheeled launch vehicle, M270 is a tracked launch vehicle, and GMLRS is the munition carried inside their interchangeable launch pods. Each pod holds six GMLRS rockets; HIMARS carries one pod and M270 carries two.
The baseline family provides a range of approximately 70 km, while Extended Range GMLRS extends the stated reach beyond 150 km. Both use GPS-aided inertial guidance and are available with unitary or area-effects alternative warheads. The combination of precision, launcher mobility and a substantial standoff range has made GMLRS an important Western deep-fires weapon, particularly in Ukraine.
