Gnom UGV

A Ukrainian family of compact, reusable unmanned ground vehicles configured for reconnaissance, fire support, logistics, casualty evacuation, remote mining and drone carriage.

Overview

Gnom, also rendered Gnome and written in Ukrainian as Гном, is a family of small, remotely controlled unmanned ground vehicles developed by Zaporizhzhia-based Temerland. The original system appeared in 2022 as a compact four-wheel reconnaissance and fire-support robot. Subsequent development turned Gnom into a modular family covering logistics, casualty evacuation, signal relay, mine laying, FPV-drone carriage, tethered reconnaissance and short-range counter-UAS work.

The family does not use a single uniform chassis. Early vehicles were described as miniature 4×4 platforms, while later Gnome-NS and Gnom L2 versions use hybrid wheel-and-track running gear. Published configurations also differ substantially in payload, communications and mission equipment. Base variants are reported with payload capacity up to 100 kg, while the heavier Gnom L2 carries up to 210 kg.

Gnom's development reflects Ukraine's broader effort to transfer dangerous battlefield tasks from personnel to expendable or recoverable robotic platforms. Its defining characteristic is therefore not one weapon or sensor package, but the use of a compact common platform for roles ranging from ammunition delivery and casualty recovery to ambush fire support and deployment of FPV drones.
