UMPB D-30SN

A Russian purpose-built, 250 kg-class guided glide bomb intended to attack rear-area targets from beyond much of Ukraine's forward air-defense coverage.

Overview

The UMPB D-30SN is a Russian air-launched precision-guided munition whose initials denote a "universal inter-service gliding munition." Unlike the more numerous UMPK, which is a modular guidance-and-wing kit attached to an existing free-fall bomb, the D-30SN is a factory-built weapon with its warhead, guidance system and control surfaces integrated into a purpose-designed airframe. Ukraine's Defence Intelligence describes the warhead as equivalent to that of a FAB-250, with more than 100 kg of explosive inside a munition weighing approximately 250 kg.

When released from an altitude of 12-15 km, the D-30SN reportedly has a maximum range of up to 100 km, although its reach decreases substantially at lower release altitudes. This permits Russian tactical aircraft to strike cities and military targets behind the front while remaining farther from short- and medium-range Ukrainian air defenses. Its navigation package incorporates a Kometa-M controlled-reception-pattern antenna intended to preserve satellite-navigation reception under electronic attack, making the weapon more resistant to the jamming techniques used against earlier Russian glide bombs.
