Overview

Zoubin, also transliterated as Zubin, is an Iranian short-range, low-altitude surface-to-air missile system built around a 360-degree radar, vertical missile launchers and an integral command element. Iranian reporting assigns it a 30 km detection range and a 20 km engagement range, with the ability to detect 100 targets and engage eight simultaneously. These figures are state and secondary-source claims rather than independently demonstrated performance.

The system is intended to defend fixed sites and strategic areas against unmanned aircraft, loitering munitions, cruise missiles, helicopters and low-flying combat aircraft. It has appeared in trailer-mounted and 6x6 truck-mounted configurations. Reporting places Zoubin within Iran's layered air-defence network alongside systems such as Majid, Mersad, Khordad-15 and 9-Dey.

Zoubin should not be confused with two similarly named Iranian weapons. Zoobin is an older electro-optically guided air-to-surface weapon based on an M117 bomb body, while Zhubin is a separate loitering munition publicly displayed in 2024. No source consulted documents Zoubin service with Hezbollah, the Houthis or another non-state operator.
