Gallatin AI wins DIU contract to run agentic logistics planning for Army Europe and Africa

DIU tapped the two-year-old startup to plan sustainment for US Army Europe and Africa, starting with medical resupply and casualty evacuation for the Eastern Flank Deterrence Initiative.

Gallatin AI has won a Defense Innovation Unit prototype contract to bring AI-driven sustainment planning to US Army Europe and Africa, the company said in a July 15 release. The vehicle is DIU's Joint Sustainment Decision Tool program, or JSDT.

The platform going in is Navigator. Per the release, it uses machine learning to forecast demand and recommends supply and movement plans that planners adjust as the situation changes; Gallatin claims an order-of-magnitude improvement in decision speed. The first assignment falls under the Eastern Flank Deterrence Initiative, keeping medical supplies moving and planning casualty evacuation across the theater.

Scale AI is on the team as well. Its generative AI platform gives logisticians a way to check Navigator's recommended courses of action against mission context inside joint planning cycles, the announcement states.

"Gallatin has spent the last year proving Navigator under the stress and real-world conditions of demanding combat training center rotations," said CEO Woody Glier. Theater-level sustainment, he added, is "where decisions span entire campaigns and the bar for agentic decision support is highest."

Defense Daily counted this as the third JSDT prototype award; Air Space Intelligence and Watchtower Labs got theirs in February. No values were disclosed. Gallatin's own release history lists a Navigator deployment with the Army's III Armored Corps plus an Army PORTAL contract for predictive logistics in contested operations.

The theater customer came fast. Woody Glier, Daniel Buchmueller and Brian Ballard founded Gallatin in 2024, and the El Segundo company left stealth in April 2025 with a $15 million seed round led by 8VC, Pulse 2.0 wrote at the time. The startup came out of 8VC's Build incubator, the same program behind Epirus and Saronic; Silent Ventures, Moonshots Capital, Timeless Partners and Banter Capital joined the round.

What to watch: JSDT is a prototype effort, so the open question is whether DIU transitions Navigator into a fielded program. Gallatin says the platform already runs with multiple military units and commercial logistics partners. The EFDI medical mission puts that record in front of a theater headquarters for the first time since the corps-level rotations Glier described.
