Marichka

Overview

Marichka is a Ukrainian heavy autonomous or uncrewed underwater vehicle (AUV/UUV) developed during Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine. It was first shown publicly in August 2023 by a volunteer engineering group reported as AMMO Ukraine, with Naval News describing the reveal as a break-cover moment for a new Ukrainian underwater drone project. Later public disclosures in February 2026 attributed updated specifications to Aquatechnik, a Ukrainian company developing several sea and river drone types for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, according to Militarnyi.

Aquatechnik lists Marichka at technology readiness level TRL 6 and advertises a 6 m vehicle with a 1,000 km range and a 1,000 kg warhead. Aquatechnik said in February 2026 that navigation and propulsion were still being refined and that Marichka had not yet been used in combat, Militarnyi reported. Ukraine is the intended user; military acceptance, deliveries to an operational unit, and combat effects remain not publicly established through 22 October 2026 (ArmyInform; The Ukrainian Week).
