Overview

Neros Archer is an attritable first-person-view (FPV) attack drone manufactured in the United States by Neros. It belongs to the inexpensive, expendable class of small strike drones that became central to battlefield operations in Ukraine. Archer is paired with the company's Flatbow ground control system, forming the package selected by the US Army for the first tranche of its Purpose-Built Attritable Systems (PBAS) programme on 6 November 2025, according to the Army selection announcement.

The system's principal significance lies in its production model rather than a publicly documented performance advantage. Neros has emphasized custom components, domestic manufacturing and reduced dependence on Chinese-origin FPV supply chains. Its development incorporated feedback and testing from Ukrainian and US military partners. The company has also supplied 6,000 drones through the International Drone Coalition for use by Ukraine, while the quantity ordered or delivered under the US Army programme has not been publicly established.

Archer's range, speed, endurance, payload, warhead, dimensions and unit price remain undisclosed. It should therefore be assessed primarily as an industrial-base and procurement programme: an attempt to reproduce the rapid iteration, large production runs and attritable operating model demonstrated in Ukraine within a US-controlled supply chain.
