Rudram-I
India's Rudram-I is a Su-30MKI-launched anti-radiation missile tested against emitting targets; operational fielding remains unverified.
An Indian air-launched anti-radiation missile designed to attack radars and other radio-frequency emitters.
Overview
Rudram-I, also called the New Generation Anti-Radiation Missile or NGARM, gives India a domestically developed weapon for suppressing enemy air defences. India's Defence Research and Development Organisation, or DRDO, built it for launch from the Su-30MKI. In an October 2020 test announcement, India's Ministry of Defence said the missile used inertial and satellite navigation before a passive seeker homed on an emitting target. That source documents a test, not combat use.
Janes reported from Aero India 2023 that Rudram-I had completed development trials and was being prepared for user trials. A later DRDO newsletter recorded a live-warhead trial in 2024. The captured sources do not establish an accepted Indian Air Force inventory, unit price or combat record. Rudram-II is a distinct follow-on missile and its claims must not be transferred to Rudram-I.
