An Iranian class of four aluminium catamaran missile corvettes built for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy, combining vertical-launch weapons, anti-ship missiles, fast boats and a helicopter deck on a ~600-tonne hull.

Overview

The Shahid Soleimani class comprised four missile-armed catamaran corvettes constructed for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy (IRGCN). Named for Qasem Soleimani, the class represented a substantial departure from the IRGCN's traditional reliance on small attack craft: each approximately 65 m vessel combined anti-ship cruise missiles, vertical-launch cells, medium-calibre guns, aviation facilities and space for three fast boats. The lead ship was described by The War Zone in 2022 as the IRGCN's largest combatant.

The ships were intended to operate as mobile command and fire-support nodes for dispersed fast-attack forces while extending Iranian missile and air-defense coverage beyond coastal positions. Their aluminium twin-hull configuration offered speed, range and a broad working deck, but traded protection and heat resistance against a steel monohull. Published descriptions differ over the number and purpose of the vertical-launch cells, indicating either incomplete public information or configuration differences among the four hulls.

All four vessels were declared destroyed during the 2026 Iran war. On 11 March 2026, US Central Command commander Admiral Brad Cooper said that every Shahid Soleimani-class ship had been destroyed, according to Janes. The extent to which damaged hulls or their equipment could be recovered has not been publicly established.
