Type 99A

The Type 99A is a main battle tank in China's People's Liberation Army service, according to Army Recognition. CCTV documented its manufacture by First Machinery Group, and a government-account publication on The Paper identified the plant as being in Baotou.

First Machinery Group manufactures the tank at its Baotou plant, documented in an August 2025 CCTV factory visit and identified in a government-account publication on The Paper. China remains the only established operator; Army Recognition described the variant as retained for domestic military service in August 2025. PLA Daily identifies Type 99B as a separately named improvement developed from Type 99A.
