D-21-12R armed ground robot

A Ukrainian remotely operated armed ground robot combining FRDM Group's D-21 wheeled platform with a D-12 weapon module carrying a 12.7 mm machine gun.

Overview

The D-21-12R is a Ukrainian wheeled unmanned ground vehicle developed by FRDM Group for observation, patrol and direct fire-support tasks. It combines the company's D-21 ground platform with the D-12 remotely operated weapon module. The Ukrainian Ministry of Defence announced on 7 April 2025 that the system had been codified and admitted for use by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, describing remote operation from shelter, cross-country mobility and a heavy-machine-gun armament (Ukraine Ministry of Defence).

FRDM presents the D-21-12R as a means of moving direct-fire capability away from exposed personnel. Its published configuration uses a Browning M2 12.7 mm machine gun and a sensor-equipped, fully traversable weapon station controlled by two remote operators. Manufacturer material distributed through Brave1 Market claims an open-terrain control radius of about 4 km and working time of up to 48 hours, but these figures have not been independently demonstrated across operational conditions (Brave1 Market). Public evidence establishes authorization for military use, not the number acquired, the scale of fielding or verified combat results.
