FireAnt is a small, man-portable autonomous ground vehicle developed by Swarmbotics AI to carry interchangeable mission payloads and operate in groups under human supervision.

Overview

FireAnt is the smaller ground vehicle in the ANTS, or Attritable Networked Tactical Swarm, ecosystem developed by Arizona-based Swarmbotics AI. The company describes it as an attritable, swarming payload carrier for counter-uncrewed aircraft systems, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, and electronic warfare. ANTS combines robotic platforms with ANTSNet, the company's software for swarm control and human teaming.

The US Army is evaluating FireAnt through Transformation in Contact with the 1st Cavalry Division. Swarmbotics announced on February 5, 2026, that the Army had selected it, following the xTech Overwatch competition, according to Defence Blog; The Defense Post describes it as a contract. Subsequent public evidence includes a Joint Readiness Training Center exercise photograph and footage of several vehicles carried externally on an M2A4 Bradley during Pegasus Charge 3.

FireAnt's distinguishing proposition is the combination of a portable payload platform and software intended to let one operator supervise multiple robots. Its documented uses remain experimental: autonomous sensing, payload integration and transport alongside armored formations. Anti-armor configurations have also been presented, including expendable attack roles. These are mission configurations within a broader ground-vehicle family.

SOFX's account of the Pegasus Charge 3 footage describes a system still under development whose place in the force structure remains unclear. Combat employment and Army-wide fielding are not publicly established.
