RBS15 Mk4 Gungnir

The next RBS15 anti-ship missile, developed by Saab and Diehl Defence for air and surface launch.

Overview

RBS15 Mk4 is the missile inside Saab's Gungnir system. Saab offers air-, ship- and land-launched configurations for maritime attack and a stated land-attack role. Saab's product description quotes a range above 300 km, a subsonic speed and an active-radar seeker. Those specifications describe the Mk4 design and should not be assigned to the older Mk3 missiles already in service around the Baltic.

Sweden funded development and production through contracts awarded in 2017. An older Saab release set deliveries through 2026, but a September 2025 Saab account said Mk4 deliveries for its coastal missile system would begin in the late 2020s. The public sources captured for this entry do not establish an accepted operational Mk4 unit. This is a funded next-generation program, not a documented combat-proven missile.
