Overview
T-15 is the infantry-carrier member of the Armata family developed by Uralvagonzavod and the Ural Design Bureau of Transport Engineering. UVZ deputy director Vyacheslav Khalitov identified T-14, T-15 and T-16 as products of one development effort in 2017. Russia's armored-vehicle official Alexander Shestakov later described the heavy IFV's front powerpack and rear troop compartment with ramp access. Khalitov interview; Shestakov article.
The vehicle has appeared with 30 mm and 57 mm armament. Rostec documented the 57 mm Kinzhal installation at Army-2018; Rossiyskaya Gazeta distinguished it from the earlier 30 mm vehicle shown in 2015. A 2021 visit report from the 38th armored-vehicle test institute provides concrete reporting of T-15 trial activity. These are hardware and testing milestones, without a verified regular operational fleet. Army-2018; Configuration history; Test-institute visit.
The best-known procurement number, 132 vehicles, covers T-14 tanks and T-15 IFVs together in the original August 2018 announcement. It gives no T-15 allocation. A later pilot batch of T-14, T-15 and T-16 was planned for 2022. Neither announcement proves completed T-15 series deliveries. This entry retains development status through the September 2026 research cutoff. Original contract; Pilot-batch plan.
