Overview

The Ukrspecsystems SHARK is a catapult-launched, parachute-recovered tactical reconnaissance UAV developed in Ukraine after Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022. Its principal missions are battlefield surveillance, target acquisition and correction of artillery or rocket fire. The family occupies Ukrspecsystems' mid-range ISR tier between the smaller Mini Shark and the larger PD-2.

The baseline aircraft, subsequently marketed as SHARK-D, carries a stabilized day or thermal-imaging payload and transmits encrypted video and telemetry to a ground station. The manufacturer lists endurance of up to four hours and an 80 km datalink range for SHARK-D. The later SHARK-M extends claimed endurance to seven hours and the link to 180 km while adding communications-relay functions and a combined electro-optical/infrared sensor with a laser rangefinder.

SHARK has been closely associated with Ukraine's reconnaissance-strike model, particularly the pairing of persistent UAV surveillance with M142 HIMARS and other precision fires. The system is also being integrated with the RAM-2X loitering munition through shared control infrastructure. Ukraine is the only confirmed military operator; licensed production arrangements exist abroad, but no foreign military customer has been publicly confirmed.
