Stone Cloak is a British drone-mounted electronic-warfare device, described officially as a jammer, intended to hinder Russian air-defence tracking and targeting, supplied to Ukraine with intellectual property shared for local production.
Overview
Stone Cloak is a compact airborne electronic-warfare device supplied by the United Kingdom to Ukraine. The British government describes it as a jammer approximately the size of a tablet computer that hinders Russian air-defence systems from tracking and targeting the drones carrying it. Defense One calls it a British-designed radar jammer, a "digital jammer" used on long-range strike drones.
The Ministry of Defence had supplied thousands of devices by the July 2026 announcement, according to the British government and the BBC. Ukraine is the documented operational user. The government also announced that it would share Stone Cloak's intellectual property so Ukraine could manufacture the device domestically, extending the relationship from equipment donations to production rights.
Public descriptions establish its intended electronic-protection role but provide little technical detail. Frequency bands, power, mass and effective range are not publicly established. Defence Matters cautions that descriptions of blocked detection should not be interpreted as universal protection: air defence can combine radar with optical, acoustic and other detection methods. Its significance rests on the transfer of production capability and an unattributed DSEI Gateway report of improved target arrivals, rather than a publicly demonstrated ability to defeat every detection system.
